Here’s a photo of my bounty from the Walnut Creek Farmers’ Market this morning. All fruit is from Hamada and Medina farms (my favorite fruit vendors). Even the blue bowl is from the market, but they’re only sold close to the holidays. The Walnut Creek market is open every Sunday morning from 9am – 1 pm.

At the Walnut Creek farmers’ market yesterday my 5-year old and I were so happy to find the first cherries of the season! I think cherries are my all time favorite fruit, and I look forward to cherry picking in Brentwood every year. Hamada Farms had some very tasty Brooks.
Another great find at the market this week was amaranth from Vang’s Farm. It’s similar in flavor to spinach or beet tops and has a purp
lish green color. You can cook it in a similar way to spinach also, I just steamed mine as I do most vegetables.
